The Temple Hill Cemetery will unveil a new series of six self-guided walking tours on Sunday, June 29 at 2 p.m. at Temple Hill Cemetery. This free program invites visitors to explore the stories of Geneseo’s past through short videos accessible via smartphone using a QR code posted on the front entrance kiosk and the cemetery’s website. Each tour features a unique historical theme, ranging from the Civil War to Women of Geneseo’s Past and early tradespeople. Also included are tours focused on SUNY Geneseo's early leaders, notable community figures and the Wadsworth family. These videos are narrated in a Ken Burns-style format, incorporating voiceovers, historical imagery and music. This launch follows the success of last fall’s Kiosk Tour — six stories highlighted on a panel installed at the cemetery’s entrance. Like the initial tour, this expansion was made possible through community collaboration and volunteer support. The program is designed to serve school groups, families, tourists and residents with an interest in history, genealogy or outdoor education. All tours are GPS-guided, mobile-friendly and captioned for accessibility. This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Genesee Valley Council on the Arts. To access the tours, visit www.templehillcemetery.com or scan the QR code at the entrance kiosk.
